Manica Youth Assembly(MAYA) elevates the voices of young people by leaving no youth behind to protect the future of our planet. Climate change is here.

As its impact intensifies over time, it is the children and young people of today who will face the worst. Raising youth voices on the climate crisis is very paramount because it increases youth participation to address climate change. MAYA pledges to leave NO Youth behind. The pledge to leave NO Youth Behind is a commitment to end extreme exclusion in all its forms and to act explicitly to ensure that those who have been left behind in the climate crisis can also take part. Stigmatization, discrimination, bias, social practices due to one’s identity (ascribed or assumed, and primarily relating to their gender, caste, religion, disability among others must not be a barrier.

Pragmatically, MAYA postulates that NO Youth is too young to know about the risks and realities of climate change because we see its effects in our daily lives.

MAYA, therefore, helps young people to participate in climate action by giving them the opportunity to engage with relevant authorities, and stakeholders, etc. Moreover, MAYA endorses that clean energy jobs help vulnerable communities. Clean energy investments are key to making low-income communities more energy-secure and more resilient given the background of the COVID-19 pandemic which exposed a ton of fragility in our economy and logistics systems. Its never too late to write a new future and advocate for a clean economy.
