Tree Planting Season is upon us

National Tree Planting 🌳 Day

Manica Youth Assembly (MAYA) youths managed to plant 100 trees in Dangamvura mountain as a way to commemorate National Tree Planting Day which is being celebrated every first Saturday on December every year in Zimbabwe. Planting of trees is very critical during this time of the year where most trees have been cut for domestic use and Dangamvura mountain has been one of the areas affected.

By planting trees, MAYA is responding to deforestation and climate. This event came at the right time when the global  nations have recently concluded COP26  where nations were mandated to reduce emissions to reduce rise in  temperatures by 2 degrees. If the trees are given time to grow by the third year we will have contributed to a major forest along the Natvest road.

Besides the December tree planting day, MAYA takes the responsibility to plant trees whenever it is conducive to do so in response to the number of trees being destroyed annually. Trees are life and they should be planted to help animals to survive. For every tree destroyed we should plant three more to catch up with the destruction rate. No one should be left behind in tree planting, Churches, schools, individuals, the disabled, teachers, and general population.

MAYA would like to thank every youth who braved the scotching heat to come and plant some trees in response to climate change and deforestation which has become a crisis during our time. For every tree planted, MAYA will make sure not one of them is destroyed. Our Special thanks to all the volunteers that participated and our partners Mabel and Gary for the seedlings donations.

MAYA for environmental protection.
